Dmexco 2012

Visions for the Dmexco, Cologne

Cologne. Imagine it’s September 12, 2012………  The annual event Dmexco opens its doors. This time 100.000 visitors are expected. This event is different than the one’s before. At the entrance the visitors receive a tiny little data stick with the letters  DOMV  on it. People have never heard of this name. “What does it mean?” the visitor asked. It’s the German expression for the  “Association of the German Online Marketing Industry” which means Deutscher Online Marketing Verband, the ticket man  answered.  Each and every visitor receives such a stick and most of the visitors ask themselves who is behind this DOMV and what should they do with the stick? “If you wanna know more, pls visit their booth x in hall y,” the question was answered.

As  the visitor approaches  the booth,  he sees people sitting in a booth which resembles a TV Show studio. Two cameras are  focussed on the happenings of this booth. The camera zooms into a conversation between  two internet experts regarding  the “new world of communication”. Closeby at a reception , one notices the astonished faces of the people talking about the stick with DOMV.

Background: Three “Movements” in internet marketing became reality in Germany in April 2012. Besides the DOMV, the AFOMA and the Everestforum were created. Each of these associations have the goal of developing the Online Marketing Scene in Germany . The DOMV gathers all those  interested  of the German online marketing scene. AFOMA teaches online marketing.  And the Everestforum is an attempt to establish  German version of  the wold renowned  online marketing WarriorForum.

All 3 organisations combine their talents and are represented at the Dmexco  to celebrate the “new world of communication.”  We look forward to  seeing you there………………

My story with the Experts Industry Association and Brendon Burchard

The short cut:  http://www.underdogplan.com/ea

Dear friends and members of the Experts Industry Association,

Do you remember getting your book at the first annual meeting of the Experts Industry Association? Writing in your book? Your own book?  Your life plan? Reflecting the knowledge of some wise members of our organization?

During the event last November , I had the pleasure of doing 20 video interviews with some of our most successful colleges. You may have already seen some of these interviews on my blog BernhardFraling.com.

My key question was, ”What did you get out of the event?”Now I would like to know what do or did or are going to support the organization?

Interestingly, I became a member just by chance. I was reading Frank Kern’s blog which I do on a regular basis.  You probably already know Frank Kern as one of the leading authorities in online marketing. Once he mentioned Brendon’s new book,  The Millionaire Messenger.  I ordered the book and read it in one sitting.  Brendon’s clear and straightforward plan to create an information business really resonated with me.

I then became one of Brendon’s affiliates and suddenly got the invitation to join the Experts Industry Association event. My journey from Germany to the event was a total catastrophe. Each of the 3 connecting flights on my way to Santa Clara was delayed so that I arrived one day later than planned on Thursday morning. I was so tired that I was not sure what I should do but I thought I should talk to Brandon who was already in the hotel. When I met him he asked me how my journey was.  After a short description, he suggested that I go to sleep to be prepared for the seminar next day. And he said he is sure that I will love it. Jet-lagged as I was, I slept the whole day and woke up in the evening. After dinner, I was able to do an early bird registration to avoid lining up the next morning when the event started.

But the seminar started for me that evening already.  With my signature at the registration, I was told that I was now an official member of the Experts Industry Association. Actually just before I entered the room to register, I was greeted by this guy with a friendly smile in his face.  His name is Travis Jenkins.  After finishing the procedure I met Travis outside and we spent the evening together. Travis seemed to already know the whole network of people.  He told me his life story very openly and that he had become a serial entrepreneur for information products. His story was astonishing. Over 20 years he had accrued a fortune over USD 25 million. Then he lost almost everything, only to make it back on a very short period of time with his information products.  This was a great start I thought. During the event I was able to talk and exchange business cards with 62 people.

But let’s get back to the key questions I asked at the beginning of my presentation.
I’m sure also you received the same thank you card from the Experts Industry Association Team.  I’m sure you really enjoyed the events and you’re willing to go the next step to hard to promote and grow the Association.

Just before Christmas there was the German version of a typical  American talent show: the Super Talent.  Originally 42,000 people participated in this competition. The TV audience finally decided who the winner was. It was an interesting experience to see how close luck and hard work are very often.  The prize was Euros 100,000.  The winner Leo Rojas was originally from latin America, but lives in Germany since quite a while.  He told the moderator that he’s going to buy a house for his mom in South America with this money if he wins.  In the semi finals the committee secretly flew in his mom from Latin America to watch the competition in person. The Latin American guy played his pan flute and moved the audience.  It was a very emotional moment for this guy when he saw his mother after his performance because he hadn’t seen her for years. I think the combination of the emotion plus his positive and useful plan about what he was going to do with the prize money helped him become the winner of the whole competition.

You probably are wondering why am I telling you this whole story?
They are two reasons:
Before I came to America to participate in the Experts Industry Association event, I had recently written my first book called “Every Day is a New Beginning.” Yes, the event was one of these new beginnings and was also transformational for me!
Brendon’s motto, ”Did you live, did you love, did you matter? “really resonated with me once again. Instead of asking myself at the end of my life, what did I contribute, I wrote down 88 goals or visions for my life. In the first part I reflected the past, my family’s German home textile business, and I mentioned my uncle Rainer.  Uncle Rainer once told me and my brother as young man that we were not the type of people who are successful business people. That hurt in those days.  And that successful people for Rainer earn a monthly income of hundred thousand German marks.

I don’t know why but this hundred thousand figure seems to be following me:  hundred thousand Rainer, hundred thousand the prize of this Latin American musician, and now for the first prize of Brendon’s affiliate contest is hundred thousand dollars for winning.  As far as I know it’s the first time someone offered such a generous award in the Internet marketing arena.

Do you understand now why this is the Underdog Plan?

My inner voice tells me you got a go for it. You got to go for this prize.
What I know from these marketing competitions is that these prizes are always joint prizes. One famous person often wins the prize and shares the profit with the joint affiliates. One thing I learned from the Latin American musician is to give the figure a purpose!

My idea is that we create as quickly as possible the first European event of the Experts Industry Association.
